History (1986)
Overview
A widowed, baptized Catholic half-Jewish woman in Rome is raped by a young German soldier in early 1941. She becomes pregnant and gives birth to a boy who grows up alongside his 16-year-old half-brother, who is enthusiastic about Mussolini's fascist ideas. A film adaptation of a novel that illustrates the tragic, often intertwined fates of the characters with plenty of historical color. Solidly interpreted, empathetic and touching in its description of the children as innocents in a guilty time.Actors
